Agriculture and combating desertification

Tozzi Green Madagascar focuses on the role that agriculture can play in sustainable growth and development, in the fight against poverty and for food and nutrition security.

This is why the company’s agricultural activities are concentrated in the south of Madagascar, in the Ihorombe region, in particular in the Ihosy district, in the communes of Satrokala, Andiolava and Ambatolahy, through its subsidiary JTF, which cultivates various crops on a total of 6,731.5 hectares of land.

Tozzi Green Madagascar is committed to combating desertification in the country through the study, development and cultivation of a targeted selection of agricultural species, including the use of advanced irrigation technologies and the planting of crop varieties that can improve soil quality in the long term.

For Tozzi Green Madagascar, the integrated approach of renewable energy, agriculture, research and innovation is a sustainable path for the future of the planet and the most effective way to combat climate change. This is why the company is committed to innovation and devotes resources to research, also in collaboration with external organisations.

Research and development

More than 10 years of research by the company’s R&D department in Madagascar, in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Science and Technology of the University of Florence and the University of Antananarivo and the University of Ihosy, has led to the development of drought-resistant varieties of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) and millet (Panicum milliaceum), the conservation and monitoring of plant and animal biodiversity on the Ihorombe Plateau, and the improvement of the quality of the soil, which was virtually sterile due to physical and chemical factors when these agricultural activities began.

Commitment to health, safety and the environment

Tozzi Green Madagascar places health, safety and the environment at the heart of its strategies, with the aim of minimising risks and maximising the positive impact of its projects. The company raises awareness among its employees, partners and local communities of the importance of safety and environmental protection by promoting constructive dialogue and joint initiatives.
Tozzi Green Madagascar is committed to fostering a culture of excellence through training programmes and sustainable development projects, with the aim of building a renewable energy future for Madagascar.
